Multi-storey Residential Apartment Building Design

Contemporary Living Redefined

Location: Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka, Bangladesh

This contemporary multistoried apartment building, designed for development purposes, is located in the prestigious at Plot 317, Road 21, Mohakhali DOSH, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Built on a 5 Katha (3,600 sq. ft.) plot, the project embraces a modern architectural approach that prioritizes functionality, comfort, and harmony with its environment.

The ground floor is designed to accommodate essential facilities, including parking, a reception lobby, a lift, a staircase, and other ancillary spaces.

The typical floors from the 1st to the 6th level each feature two apartment units, resulting in a total of 12 units. Each unit is thoughtfully planned, comprising 3 bedrooms, where two bedrooms have attached toilets, and a guest bedroom is complemented by a common toilet facility. The design focuses on optimizing space, ensuring comfort and privacy for residents.

The rooftop serves as a vibrant community space, offering facilities for barbeques, gardening, and seating areas, creating a serene and interactive environment for the residents to relax and unwind.

The building materials play a pivotal role in this project, shaping its overall ambiance and functionality. Fair-faced concrete, ceramic brick, non-reflective glass, and wooden fins were carefully selected to achieve a natural and tranquil aesthetic. These materials not only ensure durability but also contribute to maintaining a cool internal environment and allowing warm, natural daylight to permeate the spaces.

The exterior design incorporates exposed weathered concrete and bricks, which create a connection to nature and bring a sense of intimacy for the residents. The placement of the staircase at the front of the building, near the road, allows for an open verandah at the entry door, enhancing the sense of openness and accessibility.

Designed by Studio 16 Architects, the Mohakhali DOHS Apartment Building epitomizes the firm’s philosophy of “Architecture: Simplicity in Diversity”, offering a contemporary yet harmonious living experience that blends seamlessly with its surroundings.
